It has been announced by English League One side Oxford United that they have a new owner, Thai Businessman Sumrith “Tiger” Thanakarnjanasuth who has now become the majority shareholder and thus chairman of the club.
Oxford currently sit 15th in England’s Third tier of professional football.
Former chairman of the club who are currently without a manager Darryl Eales said that the club has made significant progress both on and off of the pitch and believes the club will continue to prosper further under the new chairman’s supervision.
He said tiger has the resources, connections and passion to drive the club forward.
The new chairman has previously been a shareholder in championship side Reading and when speaking about taking over control at Oxford said he was excited to do so and his first priority is to appoint a new head coach.
Currently rumours are circulating that former Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy is being linked to the role.
There is an ever growing presence of foreign ownership in English clubs nowadays including former Premier league Champions Leicester City who are also under Thai ownership.
