It was announced by Thailand’s Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith that an increased number of flight, trains and buses will be traveling to and from Buri Ram starting from October in preparation of the Moto GP 2018 Race.
He said currently experts are predicting that 200,000 people will travel to the northern province to watch the race and qualifying events which take place from October 5 to 7 thus the department is increasing transportation to help facilitate the high number of people traveling.
The announcement was made after the Minister inspected facilities in Buri Ram on Friday in preparation for the event.
The minister was greeted by Buri Ram’s governor Anusorn Kaewkungwal who informed him of the preparations that have already been made and told him that 4,000 hotel rooms have already been reserved ahead of the race.
This will be the first Moto GP race held in Thailand and the minister said the government has recognised its significance, the race will take place at the Buri Ram Racing Stadium.
The minister promised to provide enough safe transportation to facilitate all those traveling to the event.
He said he has ordered all road repairs in the region to be carried out before the event takes place.
