Much to the delight of fans of MotoGP here in Thailand it has been confirmed that the popular sport will be making its Thailand debut in October 2018.
Hosted by the provincial city of Buriram in a three year deal.
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) signed a contract with the MotoGP owners Dorna Sports to bring MotoGP to Thailand as of 2018 according to a statement released by the SAT.
This will make Thailand one of the 19 hosts for the MotoGP circuit as of next year.
The race is scheduled to be held in the Northeast city of Buriram which has seen significant investment in sporting and hotel facilities over the last few years.
The Thai government has agreed to support a large amount of the cost for the rights to hold the event.
The motorcycle race is expected to generate millions of dollars in revenue for Buriram, which was considered one of Thailand’s poorest provinces not so long ago.
