For the first time in history the Thai women’s volleyball team have beaten Brazil in the 2017 World Grand Prix tournament group game on Saturday.
The Thai women won in a stunning 3-0 victory against the 11-time champions in Sendai, Japan.
The scores for the three sets were 25-22, 25-21 and 29-27 in the final set.
Ajcharaporn Kongyot Thailand’s top scorer in the game with 18 points said “I’m really happy with the win today, it was such a tough match and we tried to avoid making any mistakes.”
Brazilian captain Natalia Pereira praised the Thai team’s performance and said “I want to say Thailand played wonderful volleyball today.”
Sadly the Thai ladies could not capitalise on the momentum from winning against the 11 time champions and lost to Serbia the world’s no 3 seeds 3-1 yesterday.
Currently sitting in 10th in their group they will next play the Dominican Republic on the 21st July.
