Thai football fans will, no doubt, be elated with the news that their team; The War Elephants have made it to the final round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Even though the match against Iraq on Thursday in Tehran wasn’t a glaring triumph for the War Elephants who started with some shaky moments but quickly got into their stride.

The heroes of the day were Mongkol Tossakrai who scored a goal in the 39th minute with a high jump header, and Adisak Kraisorn who put their second goal into the net in the 85th minute, and the Thai team looked set for a 2-1 win but in the final kick of the game Iraq scored an equalizer which ended the game in a 2-2 draw.

Fortunately, the War Elephants humble draw means they do not need to wait for the result of Iraq’s final match as the draw was put them at the top of Group F pitting them against Asia’s heavyweights in the final round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
