TrueVisions have announced that they plan to broadcast this year’s World Cup in 4k resolution come June in an attempt to cement themselves as the leading paid-for TV operator here in Thailand.
The announcement came from TrueVisions senior manager of post-production, Padee Pongpanich who said the company is currently in the process of upgrading its broadcast technology to air pay-TV content in 4k resolution.
He went on to elaborate that the company will begin broadcasting content in 4k resolution starting with this year’s 2018 World Cup which takes place throughout June and July.
The company said they are confident in their ability to be able to broadcast in 4k resolution thanks to the True Corporations vast fibre-optic internet network.
The company has also expressed an interest in broadcasting their content via satellite using the Thaicom network.
4k is also referred to as Ultra HD and provides a sharper resolution than normal definition picture.
Standard resolution is made up of 480 lines, HD resolution is made up of 1080 lines and Ultra HD 4,320 lines.
