Multiple Bangkok roads were affected by flooding during rush hour this morning after the nation’s capital was hit with heavy rains, adding to traffic congestion for those on the morning commute.
Heavy rainfall began at 5am in several districts including Bang Khun Thian, Phra Khanong, Bang Na and several others, resulting in widespread flooding.
According to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration for Drainage and Sewage, Bang Na was the worst affected after a recorded 115.5 millimetres of rainfall fell on the area.
Several major roads in the capital were affected including Sukhumvit Road’s inbound lanes which were reportedly under 15 centimetres of water resulting in queues of traffic.
By 7:15am flooding was affecting Sri Nakharin which also resulted in severe traffic congestion.
