A raiding party comprising of both police and soldiers descended on a 2-story house in Soi Sansuk in Phuket town this morning apprehending 27 gamblers, 11 men and 16 women.
The raiding party took 70 wooden chips, cards and a gambling table along with 8,810 baht in cash away as evidence.
A Phuket local identified as Anuporn Tiangthammakul, 54, was named as being the person in charge of the gambling den and was taken away with the others found at the house, who all confessed to gambling.
The participants of the gambling house were all playing a game called Gung Pla Mangda Dokmai (Prawn, fish, Horseshoe, Crab, Flower.)
The game is roughly based on a Chinese game similar to “Crown and Anchor” a game found in western countries.
