A man from Australia fell to his death in a parasailing accident at Kata Beach, Phuket, on Wednesday afternoon.
The horrifying accident was caught on camera as more than 100 onlookers watched helplessly as Roger Hussey, 71, plummeted 70 meters into shallow water.
The victim was taken to Patong Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The boat driver Monthian Jandaeng, 45, and Rungroj Rakcheep, 38, who went up behind the victim on the parasail were interviewed by police yesterday.
They told officers that the 71-year-old was confused by the ropes and pulled on a hook which released his harness causing him to fall into the water below.
Police have since charged the boat operator and his parasailing business partner with negligence over the death of Mr Hussey.
