Tourist police arrested two Chinese holidaymakers at Suvarnabhumi airport after a video clip was posted online showing them brawling in a duty-free shop with a fellow countryman
The two men named as Yang Liang and Xiao Hu were charged with assault and fined the maximum amount of 50,000 baht each.
The arrests happened after police tracked the men down following a video that was posted on social media showing the two tourists assaulting an alleged illegal tour guide in a duty free shop in Bang Plee, Samut Prakan.
When the men were arrested they admitted to fighting with former business partner who they used to work with back in China.
They said they had accidently bumped into the man on Sunday night at a duty-free shop and the man insulted them.
They confessed to being under the influence of alcohol at the time and assaulting their former colleague.
The men were fined the maximum penalty of 50,000 baht each for assault and causing a public nuisance and their files were sent to immigration to be reviewed for possible blacklisting.
Pol Maj Gen Thamnoon Tritippong said that the two men charged were not tour guides and were tourists here with a legal tour company.
