Yesterday officers from Bangkok special branch and tourist police carried out raids at dawn targeting “foreigners of colour.”
The chief of the 191 precinct, Surachet Hakpan said that the operations were targeting coloured gangs which were causing trouble all over the country.
Surachet explained that the crimes the gangs were accused of were among others fraud and bank card skimming which were having serious effects on the Thai economy.
Raiding parties descended on footballers, teachers and other trouble makers all of whom the court granted a search warrant against.
Raids took place in Lat Prao, On Nut and Ramkhamhaeng.
It was reported that one raid that took place at 7am at an unnamed condo found an ex-teacher named as Bogba Francis, 31, who’s account showed evidence of transactions totalling 5 million baht.
Nothing illegal was found in the rooms raided and police are now awaiting the results of drug tests.
