A video of an apparently random attack on a Thai woman in a McDonald’s on Khaosan Road has gone viral
An Italian woman responsible for the assault told police that she was “drunk and angry” when she was caught on CCTV dragging an unsuspecting Thai woman off her chair by her hair throwing her to the floor before kicking her in the head.
The attacker was identified by police as Laura Predosa, 29, an Italian national who was seen arguing with three friends at the counter of the popular fast food chain prior to the attack.
The video of the incident was posted on the influential Facebook page “Queen of Black Spades” which helps to bring public awareness to criminal acts in Thailand.
The page alleged that officers originally turned the victim away when she went to the Chanasongkram police station to report the incident.
The Royal Thai police then stated that the victim was able to persuade the attacker to accompany her to the station shortly after 3.am where she said she didn’t want to press charges and only wanted an apology over the incident.
Officers ordered the footage of the attack be examined and for the suspect and the victim to wait while they did so but the Italian woman left.
Officers concluded that the Thai woman was indeed assaulted by using the footage and a report was filed stating the victim suffered minor injuries.
Police then tracked down Predosa at the condo where she was staying in Suan Luang and took her in for questioning.
The Italian national told officers she was “drunk and angry” and although the video didn’t show it the Thai woman showed a “negative attitude towards her.”
It was reported that the Italian woman then apologised to the woman.
Predosa was charged by officers with assault and now may face a one month prison sentence or a fine of 10,000 baht.
