The Tambon Napa Municipality organised the 2017 rice field raking and buffalo contest which took place in Chon Buri last Sunday.
The contests which featured rice field raking contests showcasing farmer’s different methods, skills and equipment they used to break up the soil before they plant rice was followed by buffalo contest.
Three different heats were held for large, medium and small sized buffalo to promote the conservation of Thai buffalos and demonstrate to local tourists the Thai culture.
A special race was also held which pitted men against buffalos and was very popular with the watching crowd.
Kattapol nawin, 25 raced against the buffalo and said it was his first time running in such an event and despite trying his best was beaten by the faster animal.
He vowed to run again next year saying it was enormously fun.
