Eric Gabriel Briant was out walking on a mountain path yesterday evening on the island of Koh Ngai when he slipped and fell after a rock gave way resulting in the 60-year-old breaking his ankle.

Medical personnel from the Koh Lanta First Standard clinic reportedly underwent a three hour operation to transport the injured Frenchman to the beach where he was then travelled by speedboat to Koh Lanta where he was taken to Phuket hospital via ambulance.

The medical team who rescued the injured Mr Briant was led by Dr Yingyong Temsinsakul who said that the injured tourist managed to call the clinic after his fall and request assistance.
