The government has joined forces with private authorities and the local public in Phitsanulok to make environmentally friendly food plates
And containers made out of natural leaves for the funeral of his late Majesty King Rama IX.
The plates were developed at Naresuan University where the plan is to produce a total of 1,901 of the plates.
The Governor of Phitsanulok spearheaded the campaign and will present the plates to the Royal Household Bureau to be handed out to those attending the royal funeral on October 23.
The plates have been specially designed to replace plastic and foam plates and are capable of containing hot and oily foods.
Production of the special green plates will begin on September 1st and is expected to be complete by the end of the month when they will then be presented to the Royal Household on October 6th.
