Sadly there will be no miracle for the families of two Thai students that went missing in the United States on July 26th
There was a faint hope that Thiwadee Saengsuriyarit, 24, and Bhakapon Chairattanasongporn, 28, had survived the accident that resulted in their car being submerged in a river at the base of a 150 metre cliff.
The Thai Consulate General announced today however that rescue teams had now reached the vehicle and found the two students bodies inside.
It had been estimated that rescue teams might not be able to reach the vehicle for weeks due to its location and river conditions but the Consulate General, Tanee Sangrat told a radio station in Bangkok via telephone interview that a team had been able to descend down the cliff face and found the bodies.
Rescue efforts had been heavily criticized by the student’s families who had travelled to the United States.
The California Highway Patrol blamed heavy rains and fast river currents from preventing them reaching the car prior to rescue teams descending down the cliff face.
