Severe storms in the Northeastern provinces of the kingdom brought widespread destruction when they hit the area during the night last night, the Meteorological Department is expecting thunderstorms to continue in the region through until Tuesday.

In Nakhon Phanom over 100 houses were damaged in the Na Kae and That Phanom districts with the total damaged caused estimated to be around 2 million baht after heavy rain and hail coupled with strong winds battered the area for several hours.

This was the second damaging storm to hit the region this month with a previous storm causing damage to over 300 homes.

The MET Department said a low-pressure area is currently covering the upper area of the kingdom which is coming into contact with Southwesterly winds, the coming together of the two are resulting in thunderstorms.
