Officials have confirmed that Sunday nights shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada has left 59 people dead and injured over 500 others.

After a lone gunman opened fire with automatic rifles from the 32 floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino into a crowd of roughly 22,000 people attending a concert below.

It is now being said to be the worst mass shooting in modern American history.

The man responsible for the truly heinous act has been named as Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, from Mesquite, Nevada.

Officers are now investigating what Paddock’s motive behind the shooting could have been stating that other than a citation he received several years ago he had no criminal background.

Officials noted that they believe Paddock took his own life before officers entered his hotel room.

Officers found 23 firearms inside his hotel room and a further 19 at his house when conducting their investigation.

Witnesses said the incident was chaotic with shooting lasting continuously raining down bullets for about 10 minutes.

Flags around the nation are flying at half-mast and the US President Donal Trump described the shooting as “an act of pure evil”, President Trump will visit Las Vegas on Wednesday.
