Officials across five provinces have dispatched personnel to hunt a wandering wild male elephant that has already killed four people and return it back to the forest.
Residents of Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Sa Kaew have been warned to keep a look out for the wild pachyderm noting that it should be easy to identify as it has no tusks.
Officials believe that the elephant has wandered off from the Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary and has been feeding off farmers crops as it roams across the named provinces.
Residents have been advised to take extra care at night especially if out tapping rubber trees.
Currently a group of 50 wildlife officials dispatched by the Sa Kaew governor is out searching for the elephant to return it back to its natural habitat.
