An AirAsia pilot has come under fire after telling his passengers to “pray” when the plane began to shake violently.
The plane, an Airbus A330, was heading from Perth in south west Australia to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, when it began to shake like a washing machine, an hour and half into the journey.
The video appears to show the plane shaking, with passengers terrified. One, however remained calm enough to film the happenings.
Passengers reported hearing a loud “bang” before the plane began to shake. The pilot then asks passengers to “Please pay attention – our survival depends on your cooperation.”
Passengers reported seeing metal flying out of an engine as others frantically text home.
Passengers could be seen crying as they departed the stricken plane, obviously relieved to be alive.
There were 359 passengers on board the flight.
People had to queue for some time to get on alternative flights but many did
