A Playboy model showing a bit of butt cheek. Shocking, we know, but of such moments are internet firestorms made.

And so it was yesterday when Thunnaree Thunyawattanasirichote, better known by her Thai Playboy nickname “Bunny Numay,” posted an 18-second video of her getting a “slimming paraffin massage,” one that apparently involves some cheeky slapping of the um … cheeks.

Obviously, that was enough to set off a national crisis of conscience, one that provoked such classic Facebook advice as: “Hurry up and delete it, kid. If only you add some moaning on top of all that slapping noise, it’s basically porn.”

Others — mostly males, shockingly enough — welcomed the spa review with open arms, even asking: “Where do I sign up to be a masseuse?” (Ed: It’s because they’d like to slap her bum.)

In a broadcast interview with Amarin TV yesterday, Thunnaree finally spoke out, suggesting netizens calm down — this is, after all, a part of her job.

The 31 year old also made it abundantly clear she’s unphased by all the criticism and has no interest in saying sorry for something she decided to broadcast and didn’t bring harm to anyone else.

“Yes, you can see a little bit of my butt, but I’m a sexy model. I post pictures like this regularly anyway. So, comparatively, I thought this would be funny,” Thunnaree said.

“I don’t think I did anything wrong,” the model said, adding that this post was not endorsed by the spa.

Meanwhile, spa owner Panisha Puseesom — a former model herself and owner of Relax House Health & Beauty — supported the Playboy bunny’s perspective.

“I understand why some may see this as revealing but, during a massage, even regular people don’t wear very much,” Panisha reasons. “If she [Thunnaree] is confident about [posting a video], I don’t see why it’s a problem. We didn’t ask her to do it, that was her own free will.”

Panisha also took the opportunity to address the double standard in this age of social media.

“When a woman posts a photo of themselves at the beach, in a bikini showing some breasts and butt, how come that doesn’t receive criticism?” she observed. “People comment positively and like the photo without objection.”

“Why does it become a problem when it’s a video?” Panisha asked.

Probably because people don’t get to see a video of a naked booty being vigorously slapped on Facebook every day. But hey, the Playboy model is right on at least one level. She didn’t hurt anyone in the process of trying to find her slice of online fame.

Frankly, we’ll take her any day over the Youtube star who made headlines yesterday for pranking people with fake bombs or the American expat who made his cats fight scorpions for clicks.
