Police have said that they will not be perusing the shop who tied a PVC pipe to the back of a pick-up truck resulted in the death of a 65-year-old.
Saying that it was ultimately the driver’s responsibility to check that her cargo was secure. The pipe came loose and swung out from the truck striking a pillion rider on a motorbike that was traveling the opposite direction in the head killing the man.
The accident which happened in Sam Khok district in Pathum Thani captured on CCTV and gained nationwide media attention.
The driver of the pick-up Preetanut, 51 has been charged by officers with negligence causing death.
On Wednesday she spoke to reporters to apologise to the family of the deceased man who was apparently a neighbour.
She also said that she asked shop staff to tie the pipe to her pick-up because she had no idea how to do it herself and said she only realised there had been an accident when someone stopped her further down the road.
