Thai internet citizens were up in arms after a photo was uploaded to Facebook showing a dead leopard cat by the side of the road in a national park believed to have been hit by a car.
The beautiful creature was reportedly found dead on the side of the road at the Khao Yai National Park yesterday morning and a picture and video of park officials inspecting the deceased animal were uploaded to by P’New Rakdin.
In the video the park official can be heard saying “that’s too bad” while another speculates that the tiny feline might have been pregnant as it has a swollen stomach.
The poster shared the unfortunate uploads with the caption “this is why they ask you to drive slowly in national parks, how many more lives do we need to lose until you realise?”
A very good question there has been several stories this year of endangered wildlife being killed on the roads around the kingdom.
Since the post was uploaded it has been shared more than 10,000 times with many commenting on the sad nature of the post.
The leopard cat is a protected species here in Thailand.
