Another week another video of road rage here in Thailand, this week the incident happened in Chiang Mai and since the clip was uploaded to social media it has been viewed over 2.5 million times.
The footage shows the moment a silver Toyota Fortuna cutting across the path of 31-year-old university lecturer Santiphap Viriyothai who was driving along the Donchan-Sankampaeng road yesterday with his wife and young child in the car.
As the driver cuts across his path Santiphap can be heard honking his horn which was obviously not appreciated by the driver of the Fortuna who proceeds to block the road with his car before getting out, golf club in hand and smashing the widow of Santiphap’s car.
A child can be heard screaming in the clip and Santiphap calls out “I have a child in here, let’s be reasonable.”
With the action taking place out of shot of the camera the angry Fortuna driver apparently continues to damage the car with Santiphap telling him he will call the police to which the driver replies “fine.”
The police were indeed called and this morning the angry driver was identified by police as Pornprom Tonawanik, 60, from Chiang Mai.
Police stated that Santiphap suffered injuries to his eye and arm as a result of the attack as well as having his car damaged.
They have summoned Pornprom to the station for questioning today, at present the investigation is still ongoing.
