The Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapakorn toured the Royal Crematorium currently under construction in Sanam Luang last night stating that work was almost complete.
He said that Electricity, lighting and elevators will all be ready to go online by early next week before rehearsals on October 12 and 17 to lift the top of the grand-tiered umbrella funeral pyre into place marking the completion of the Crematorium.
The second rehearsal is set to happen just one day before his Majesty King Maha Vajiralonkorn attends a ceremony on October 18 to raise the top of the pyre.
The Deputy PM said recent rains had not hindered construction and electrical and lighting systems were not affected and that lightning conductors had been installed for safety reasons.
He said that the Royal Crematorium was unique and one of the world’s greatest architecture feats to honour the late beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
