A Russian national was arrested yesterday in Pattaya by Immigration officers who had an added surprise when arresting him finding him with both Class 1 and Class 5 narcotics in his possession.
Officials said the man named as Donut Gevorgikov, 35, was arrested on the orders of immigration station chief Songprot Sirisukha for overstaying his visa.
However when immigration officers apprehended him in his room in the Niran Grand Ville they found 1.25 grams of methamphetamine and 1.46 kilograms of marijuana as well as plastic bags used to distribute the product and other drug taking paraphernalia.
Officers charged Donut with overstaying his visa and possession of Class 1 and 5 drugs with the intent to sell.
Immigration officers have since handed the suspect over to Pattaya police who will be continuing the investigation.
The operation was carried out as part of the immigration offices “Good Guys In, Bad Guys Out” approach to tourism in the kingdom.
