A Russian man was found floating in a blow up boat just off of the coast of Trat and when police spoke to the man he said he just wanted to get back to Pattaya.
He claimed to have lost his group of friends and his bicycle was broken so he had no choice but to row back to Pattaya.
Reportedly the man had been floating out at sea for four days before being pulled ashore. Police and Klong Yai medical personnel were called on Sunday morning after the man’s inflatable craft was spotted off of the shore near Ban Jek Lak.
Police called an interpreter and after talking with the man decided to arrest him for his suspicious behaviour.
Inside the unnamed man’s makeshift vessel officers found a broken bicycle, an axe, a few cloths, two oars and a rice cooker.
Officers said the man was incoherent when they found him but via an interpreter he told them that he and three friends had travelled from Pattaya to Trat, but he had lost his friends and his bike had broken so decided to row back to Pattaya.
After several hours of talking to the Russian man who was said to have been uncooperative officers took him to the police station as he could not produce any ID saying he had also lost his passport.
