We all take the stress of being in an accident — particularly ones we cause — differently. But we’re scratching our heads a bit today at the extra chill reaction of a Thai man who’s going viral for his own odd response to a three-car collision.
In a widely viewed clip posted to Facebook page Hear Thailand Officialyesterday, the man in question can be seen chilling with a cigarette on the roof of his black BMW car as traffic passes by on either side. It appears to be a new car — at least new to him — as a red license plate in Thailand indicates a car has been recently purchased.
The reason we’re questioning the level of chill on display has to do with the incident that precedes it.
According to traffic and accident news publisher FM91 Traffic Pro, the accident occurred on Phaholyothin Road on the outskirts on Bangkok yesterday at about 5pm.
In another dash-cam video posted on their Facebook page, the BMW can be seen attempting to cut in front of a grey car as it attempts to overtake it on the freeway, sending it veering off to its left and into a white van.
All three cars were reportedly damaged. No word as of yet if there was anyone in the white van aside from the driver.
As of press time, the video has already received nearly 100,000 views and more than 400 comments in less than a day. Commentary, as you might suspect, hasn’t been to kind to the man nonchalantly enjoying his cigarette.
“It’s obvious that you have money, but it’s a shame you don’t have brains,” wrote one commenter.
“What the hell. Do you [the smoker] not care about the cars behind them at all? You have to be pretty shameless to do this, what you want and disregard everyone else,” another wrote.
On that note, stay safe out there, readers. God knows Thai roads can be a dangerous and unpredictable place.
