Thanks to CCTV at Chiang Mai International Airport police have been able to track down three Chinese nationals who stole money and other valuable items from a Danish tourist whilst at the airport on Thursday night.

Ole Nielsen Anderson, 65, filed a complaint about the theft with police in Chiang Mai who then studied CCTV from the Airport to identify the thieves, they then tracked the suspects to the Montha Hotel in downtown Chiang Mai where they were staying.

Officers found the trio in possession of 4,000 baht in cash, the victim’s I-phone, credit card and passport as well as the cloths they were all wearing when they stole the items.

The three reportedly confessed to officers that they stole the items and their identities have since been released as 55-year-old Xiong Mingfei, 54-year-old Xie Xinhui and 27-year-old Xia Gaoyong.

All three have since been charged with theft and are awaiting trial.
